What if the fire of Revelation 8 is not divine punishment?

Sometimes what feels like punishment is the moment when everything false can no longer remain hidden. Holiness does not always come quietly; sometimes it shakes, exposes, interrupts, and removes what we thought would always be there. But the fire of God is not proof that God has turned against us. In Isaiah, the fire touched what was unclean and preserved the man who stood before it. What if the darkest moment is not God destroying you, but holiness refusing to let what is destroying you remain?
