Revelation: The Four Horsemen Break Their Silence
The Truth They Were Sent to Uncover
by Marty Gool
“We are not coming for you.”
Read an Excerpt
The Lamb does not perpetrate violence. Rebellion produces its own consequences. Holiness unveils what rebellion has become. God honors human agency rather than overriding it. Judgment is revelation and ratification, not retaliation.
Chapter 1. We Were Never Sent to Terrorize You
We have been misread for centuries.
You have seen us thundering across illuminated manuscripts, faces gaunt and terrible, trailing plague and famine in our wake. You have heard us preached from pulpits as the instruments of divine fury, as proof that God's patience had finally exhausted itself, as the moment heaven turned its face toward the earth and decided to break it. Preachers have counted us like a threat. Scholars have argued over which of our riders is Christ and which is Antichrist, which color signals which catastrophe, which seal corresponds to which historical atrocity. Children have been frightened by us. Whole theologies have been built on the assumption that we are coming for you.
We are not coming for you.
We were never sent to terrorize the world, and we were certainly never sent to reveal a God whose mercy had finally failed. We were sent by a Lamb, a slaughtered one, which matters enormously, to do something far more precise, far more honest, and far more merciful than punishment. We were sent to remove the covering. Not to pour suffering onto the earth from some celestial reservoir of wrath, but to pull back the cloth that had been carefully arranged over suffering the world had already chosen for itself.
Understand what that means before you read another word. The suffering was already there. The conquest was already there, dressed in the robes of righteous victory. The violence was already there, moving beneath the elegant surface of imperial peace. The scarcity was already there, written into the weights and the wages with mathematical precision. The death was already there, waiting at the end of a road that conquest, violence, and scarcity had been building for generations. We did not invent any of it. We uncovered it. There is a difference between a God who sends suffering and a God who insists that suffering be seen, and the difference is everything.
This is our testimony.
We speak together because what we carry is one argument, not four unrelated disasters. You have been taught to read us as separate plagues, sequential catastrophes that stack upon each other as the seals break and the situation deteriorates. But that is not how testimony works. A witness does not contradict the witness before them and call it a new revelation. We confirm each other. We build on each other. The white horse establishes what conquest truly looks like after the Lamb has already redefined it. The red horse shows what peace actually costs when empire is the one underwriting it. The black horse presents the evidence already inscribed in the scales, in the wages, in what is protected and what is measured out. The pale horse arrives not as a surprise but as a conclusion, the place the road was always going when no one would name the road for what it was.
